Tony Curran will star as Jamie Fraser’s grandfather in the new series. <\/p>
Tony Curran has joined the cast of Outlander: Blood of My Blood<\/a>, a prequel series to the hit historical drama.<\/p>\n The official Outlander Instagram<\/a> page confirmed the news that Curran will star as Lord Lovat, Jamie Fraser\u2019s grandfather, as a series regular.<\/p>\n Fans received the bittersweet news in 2023 that Outlander would return for an eighth season \u2013 but that it would be its last.<\/p>\n Yet all hope wasn\u2019t lost, as Starz and Lionsgate announced the long-awaited prequel series, Blood of My Blood, had been greenlit.<\/p>\n The new show will dive into the story of Jamie Fraser\u2019s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, focusing on their lives and relationship.<\/p> Speaking of the story, showrunner Matthew B Roberts said: \u201c[It will] explore what lengths a person will go to find love in a time when love is considered a luxury, and when marriages are made strategically, often for political or financial gain.<\/p>\n \u201cThe title is a nod to Jamie Fraser\u2019s marriage vow to Claire, and there will be several names and faces that Outlander fans will know and recognise.\u201d<\/p>\n Confirmed cast members include Harriet Slater (Belgravia: The Next Chapter) as Ellen MacKenzie, Jamie Roy (Condor\u2019s Nest) as Brian Fraser, Hermione Corfield (We Hunt Together) as Julia Moriston and Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) as Henry Beauchamp.<\/p>\n Many fans will, of course, recognise Curran for his roles in various movies and TV shows, including as Vincent van Gogh in Doctor Who<\/a>, Tully in Mayflies and soon as King James I in new series Mary & George<\/a>.<\/p>\n
