Andrew Scott’s one-man show Vanya is coming to a cinema near you this week. Here’s what you need to know. <\/p>

Andrew Scott fans have been given a second chance to catch his award-winning one-man performance in Vanya.<\/p>\n

Many missed out on the play during its limited five week run at the West End last autumn, but now it\u2019s coming to hundreds of cinemas across the UK for a fraction of the price.<\/p>\n

Brought to you by National Theatre Live, the show is being screened by all major cinema brands including ODEON<\/a>, Cineworld<\/a> and Vue<\/a>, starting this Thursday (22nd February).<\/p>\n

The performance sees Scott \u2013 best known for his roles as Moriarty in Sherlock and the Hot Priest in Fleabag \u2013 play multiple characters in a \u201cradical\u201d adaptation of Anton Chekhov\u2019s Uncle Vanya.<\/p>\n

The show was brought to life by British-Irish playwright Simon Stephens and performed at the Duke of York\u2019s Theatre<\/a> (where you can currently buy tickets for Matt Smith\u2019s Enemy of the People<\/a> and Tom Holland\u2019s Romeo and Juliet<\/a>) in September and October last year, where it completely sold out.<\/p>\n

Scott\u2019s performance was praised as an \u201cacting masterclass\u201d by many in a play which saw him take on eight characters in total.<\/p>\n

Originally produced in 1899, Chekhov\u2019s Uncle Vanya follows an elderly professor and young second wife on their visit to their rural estate. When they get there, tensions start to rise between the professor and his brother-in-law Vanya, who has sacrificed many years managing the home and its money.<\/p>\n
