Kali Reis has responded to Nic Pizzolatto sharing Instagram Stories criticising the new season. <\/p>

True Detective star Kali Reis<\/a> has responded to criticism of the latest season shared online by the franchise\u2019s original creator.<\/p>\n

Reis hit back at Nic Pizzolatto \u2013 who created the series in 2014 \u2013 after he reposted a number of negative comments directed at the most recent instalment and its creator, Issa L\u00f3pez.<\/p>\n

Pizzolatto, who is credited as an executive producer on the Jodie Foster-led season, shared fans\u2019 criticisms of the run on his Instagram<\/a> Stories in the wake of Monday\u2019s conclusion, which Rolling Stone<\/a> dubbed the series\u2019s \u201cbest finale ever\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can only imagine how it feels to have [Pizzolatto\u2019s] all time classic dialogue butchered and misappropriated like it was last night,\u201d one of the comments Pizzolatto shared read.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast night\u2019s finale was some of the sloppiest writing I\u2019ve ever watched. So insulting calling it True Detective, and beyond disrespectful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[Issa L\u00f3pez] missed the mark HUGELY and capitalized off allusions to a successful season with a solid set of characters, lore, and expectations without having any actual tiebacks,\u201d another read.<\/p>\n

Pizzolato\u2019s reaction has received widespread backlash on social media, and now star Reis has responded to the writer and producer on X, writing<\/a>: \u201cThat\u2019s a damn shame\u2026 but hey I guess \u2018if you don\u2019t have anything good to share, s**t on others\u2019 is the new wave.\u201d<\/p>

L\u00f3pez herself had previously addressed Pizzolatto\u2019s criticisms.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that every storyteller has a very specific, peculiar and unique relation to the stories they create, and whatever his reactions are, he\u2019s entitled to them,\u201d she told Vulture<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s his prerogative. I wrote this with profound love for the work he made and love for the people that loved it.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it is a reinvention, and it is different, and it\u2019s done with the idea of sitting down around the fire, and [let\u2019s] have some fun and have some feelings and have some thoughts. And anybody that wants to join is welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n

Interestingly, L\u00f3pez\u2019s season not only received praise among critics<\/a>, but has also gone on to become the most-watched of the anthology series on HBO, drawing in an average of 12.7 million cross-platform viewers<\/a>.<\/p>\n
