A video has emerged that shows Idris Elba\u2019s first reaction to Pearce Brosnan\u2019s James Bond \u2013 after the actor had seen GoldenEye in 1995.<\/p>\n
A young Elba \u2013 then 23-years-old \u2013 is one of many cinemagoers quizzed about their views on Brosnan\u2019s 007 in the clip, and it seems that he was impressed by what he had seen.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s really good,\u201d Elba says. \u201cHe\u2019s got all the charm. He\u2019s got all the looks. And he\u2019s fit and strong and blah, blah, blah. He\u2019s all right.\u201d<\/p>\n

The clip has proven particularly popular given that, for a long time, the Luther star has been one of the first names mentioned when fans list their preferred choices for the next James Bond.<\/p>\n
Elba is one of many names to have been mentioned as a possible successor to Daniel Craig, who is set to retire from Bond after No Time to Die<\/a>, although over the years he has been overtaken in the odds by the likes of Sam Heughan, Reg\u00e9-Jean Page and James Norton.<\/p>
Elba recently addressed the rumours himself, explaining in an interview with Capital XTRA<\/a> that his mum was still hoping he might land the role eventually.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know the rumors about Bond have always chased me,\u201d he said. \u201cListen, my poor mum is like, \u2018One day you\u2019re going to get it!\u2019 I was like, \u2018Mum, I\u2019m good, I\u2019ve got Luther.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
It was confirmed earlier this month that Elba was set to reprise his role as DCI John Luther in an upcoming feature film for Netflix, with Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis set to join him in the cast.<\/p>\n
The film will be written by Neil Cross, the creator of the BBC drama which aired on BBC One from 2010 until 2019, while outlander\u2019s Jamie Payne serves as director.<\/p>\n
