Adrian Lester stars as the Earl of Poynton in the new Disney Plus series. <\/p>

There\u2019s a steady amount of anticipation building for Renegade Nell<\/a>, the first series outing for Sally Wainwright since the wrapping up of her acclaimed crime drama Happy Valley<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The new series is released in March and stars\u00a0Derry Girls<\/a> alum Louisa Harland in the titular role, but the series is set to be a far stretch away from what people may be expecting of Wainwright\u2019s writing.<\/p>\n

Speaking on this week\u2019s episode of The Graham Norton Show<\/a>, actor Adrian Lester revealed more about the new series in which he stars as Nell\u2019s arch-nemesis, the Earl of Poynton.<\/p>\n

Revealing more about Renegade Nell, Lester said: \u201cIt is really good fun. It\u2019s very different for Sally Wainwright.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s put political intrigue, sprites, magic, lots of fighting, highway robbery, and Regency England in a big pot, gave it a stir and out came an amazing idea. It is really good writing and I have a really good time being bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lester is joined by the likes of Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Dua Lipa and Justin Timberlake on the Graham Norton sofa this week, but his reveal will undoubtedly spark intrigue among any fans of Wainwright\u2019s.<\/p>\n

The writer is of course known for the Sarah Lancashire-starring Happy Valley<\/a>, as well as other hit dramas like Last Tango in Halifax<\/a> and Gentleman Jack<\/a>.<\/p>

Lester is of course known for his long-running role in Hustle between 2004 and 2012, but more recently has been on our screens in Trigger Point opposite Vicky McClure.<\/p>\n

He is set to be a \u201cmaster manipulator\u201d in Renegade Nell, with the cast\u00a0also boasting the likes of Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso<\/a>), Alice Kremelberg (The Sinner<\/a>), Frank Dillane (The Essex Serpent<\/a>), Line of Duty<\/a>\u2018s Craig Parkinson and more.<\/p>\n

Also directed by Ben Taylor (Sex Education), the first trailer for the new series was unveiled last week, which gives fans a glimpse of the action to come and the mysterious power that Nell has \u2013 which everyone also wants.<\/p>\n
