The long-awaited follow-up finally arrives in UK cinemas this week. <\/p>

Fans of the first part of Denis Villeneuve<\/a>\u2018s epic Dune adaptation have had to be patient while waiting to be transported back to Arrakis \u2013 but after more than two years, the second entry is finally released in UK cinemas this weekend.<\/p>\n

The film will pick up where the last one left off, following Paul Atreides (Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet) as he learns the ways of the Fremen tribe he joined forces with at the end of the first instalment \u2013 with the evil Harkonnens now back in control of the desert planet.<\/p>\n

Reviews from critics have been almost uniformly positive, with our own four-star review<\/a> calling it a \u201cspectacular return to Arrakis\u201d, so it looks like the film will certainly be worth the wait.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, most viewers won\u2019t need to think twice about rushing out to see the movie on as big a screen as possible, but fans with children might be wondering whether it\u2019s suitable for younger audiences.<\/p>\n

Read on for everything you need to know about the Dune: Part Two<\/a> age rating.<\/p>\n

Dune: Part Two age rating UK<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has handed the film a 12A certificate<\/strong>, citing moderate violence, bloody images and threat.<\/p>\n

That means that the film is considered suitable for all those aged 12 and over, while any viewers under that age will have to be accompanied by an adult.<\/p>\n

In its description of the film, the BBFC mentions \u201cimpactful violence and intense battle sequences\u201d.<\/p>\n

While going into more detail regarding the violence included in the film, it explains: \u201cIn a scene which includes bloody detail, a villain slashes one woman\u2019s neck and stabs another. A man fights several opponents in an arena, using blades to slash and stab them.\u201d<\/p>

It continues: \u201cThere are also scenes of battle violence which include stabbings, shoot outs and hand-to-hand combat. Men and women are occasionally shown bloodied in the aftermath of violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, BBFC also notes some use of bad language including \u201cs**t\u201d and \u201cp**s\u201d, as well as \u201creferences to the hallucinogenic properties of a fictional substance\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the US, the film has been given the equivalent PG-13 rating.<\/p>\n
