The two-part murder mystery series is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Death in Paradise creator Robert Thorogood. <\/p>

New murder mystery series The Marlow Murder Club<\/a> comes from Death in Paradise<\/a> creator Robert Thorogood, who has adapted it from his own best-selling novel from 2021.<\/p>\n

The two-part drama follows Judith, Becks and Suzie, three women living in Marlow who, along with police detective Tanika Malik, investigate a series of murders in their home town.<\/p>\n

Speaking with RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press on the set of the series in 2023, Thorogood explained that television was actually the initial home for this series, and that he only wrote the book in order to get it made as a TV programme.<\/p>\n

He explained: \u201cAfter I came up with Death in Paradise, which was always sort of a Hercule Poirot, Richard Pool, I love Agatha Christie, I wanted to do what would be my Miss Marple. Because all I do is try and write Agatha Christie style stories.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I was raised mostly by my mum, and my great aunt Jean, and my great aunt Jess, and my grandmother, Betty, all of whom were these really strong, eccentric, intelligent women who smoked and drank. They were just these really inspirational women who were married to these quite boring men, who all felt they had the power.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really wanted to write a love letter to these amazing women who are now, apart from my mother, all dead. And so I tried to sell it as a TV show back in 2015. I thought, \u2018I\u2019ve got Death in Paradise, this will be the next thing I\u2019ll do, called The Murder<\/span> Club\u2019. And no one was interested.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cSo I thought, \u2018I\u2019m gonna have to do this the hard way. To get this onto television, I\u2019m gonna have to go and write a novel\u2019, because I had a book deal so I had the chance to write it as a book.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd there was also a part of me that thought, \u2018I wonder who these people are, will it work? Maybe I can discover in book form\u2019.<\/p>\n
