Are Helen George and Olly Rix returning? <\/p>

Back in February last year, it was confirmed that Call the Midwife<\/a> would be returning for season 14<\/a> and<\/em> 15, news which creator and writer Heidi Thomas was \u201coverjoyed\u201d by.<\/p>\n

\u201cCall the Midwife is the pride and joy of all who work on it, but it\u2019s our fantastic, loyal audience that matters most,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are a family behind the scenes, on the screen, and in front of the telly, and I\u2019m thrilled that we\u2019re all heading into the 1970\u2019s together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking in August 2022 about how long the BBC drama could run for, Thomas told RadioTimes.com<\/a>: \u201cThe order of nuns on whom the Nonnatus nuns are based stay in the East End until 1976, but I think more importantly than that single historic fact is that of women\u2019s lives and the lives of the working classes as well, because increasingly over the years we\u2019ve written about them, which I think also brings in a fresh dynamic which is always changing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are so many stories to tell, medically, socially, even emotionally, and I think we could keep on going.\u201d<\/p>\n

RadioTimes.com<\/a> understands that Helen George hasn\u2019t left the show<\/a>, despite Trixie deciding to follow Matthew<\/a> to New York in the season 13 finale \u2013 although she could change her mind and stay put.<\/p>\n

But it remains to be seen if Olly Rix will reprise his role as Matthew Aylward, who left for the States<\/a> in the hope of building his own business empire<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During a phone call with Trixie, he said it wasn\u2019t \u201cforever\u201d and RadioTimes.com<\/strong> understands that the door is being left open for him to return<\/a> in the future.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not a guarantee, which means there\u2019s every chance their marriage will break down completely, with Matthew remaining in New York while Trixie returns to London full-time.<\/p>\n

Another possible outcome could see Trixie absent for a few episodes, or even a season, if she does go to America. Perhaps she\u2019ll return to Poplar for one or two more instalments while Matthew remains across the pond, before she heads back to join him, leaving the drama for good?<\/p>\n

With so few answers, season 14 cannot arrive quickly enough.<\/p>\n

As for the rest of the cast, we\u2019d expect the following to return:<\/p>\n
