More than a decade after his groundbreaking performance as Vincent Van Gogh in Doctor Who<\/a>, Tony Curran has said he would \u201cdefinitely consider\u201d returning to the show.<\/p>\n

Curran\u2019s portrayed the iconic artist in the episode Vincent and the Doctor<\/a> alongside Matt Smith\u2019s Eleventh Doctor<\/a> and Karen Gillan\u2019s<\/a> Amy Pond. His performance has gone down in Doctor Who history \u2013 largely thanks to a powerful scene in the episode, which sees the Doctor take Van Gogh to the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019Orsay in the present day, where his art takes pride of place.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a> to celebrate the release of his new series Mary & George<\/a>, Curran said that, while he hasn\u2019t been approached to return to Doctor Who, he\u2019d \u201cdefinitely consider it\u201d.<\/p>

The actor added: \u201cSome people approach me to say \u2018I\u2019ve got a script\u2019 or something about Van Gogh, playing something again. I don\u2019t know, do you go back? I don\u2019t know sometimes, it\u2019s about recreating something. It depends on what it was.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it was definitely a very special time working with Matt and Karen. Of course, you just never know what you\u2019re going to do in this profession sometimes. I was fortunate enough to get that role.<\/p>\n

\u201c Mayflies<\/a> I did recently and that show was also quite poignant, I really enjoyed that, very intense. It was about a real man, a real person, real life issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cVincent and Tully from Mayflies and most definitely King James is another character that I was lucky enough to play that encapsulates a lot of those elements of those characters I\u2019ve played \u2013 from joy to love to tenderness to sensuality to the tragic nature of it all. Very human, which was very challenging but ultimately very fulfilling to play.\u201d<\/p>\n
