The Game of Thrones prequel will be back in June. <\/p>
There\u2019s not too much longer to wait until the return of Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon<\/a> \u2013 with Warner Bros Discovery confirming that the hotly-anticipated second season will begin airing in June.<\/p>\n The news was announced by JB Perrette \u2013 the president of global streaming and games at the studio \u2013 at a media conference Q&A yesterday (Monday 4th March), although an exact premiere date was not given.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen we look at the next 12 to 18 to 24 months, we have all of our four biggest HBO tentpoles \u2013 House of the Dragon season 2 coming in June,\u201d Perette said, also referring to The Last of Us<\/a>, Euphoria<\/a> and The White Lotus<\/a>.<\/p>\n It had previously been teased that the series would return in the \u201cearly summer\u201d, while Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav had also said last month that the new run would begin at some point in Q2.<\/p> \u00a0<\/p>\n The first season of the prequel series, which is set 172 years before the events of the beloved fantasy show, debuted to mostly positive reviews<\/a> back in August 2022, meaning almost two years will have passed between the first two runs.<\/p>\n Fans have already been treated to a short trailer<\/a> for the second season, with a clip released in December 2023 teasing all-out war in Westeros.<\/p>\n The series will continue to follow the Targaryen dynasty and their struggles for power in Westeros after the shocking events of the season 1 finale, which saw the death of Rhaenyra Targaryen<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0son Lucerys.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Emma D\u2019Arcy, Olivia Cooke and Matt Smith will reprise their roles as Rhaenyra, Alicent Hightower and Daemon Targaryen respectively, while other returning cast members include Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall and Matthew Needham.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, several new faces will join the cast this time around, including\u00a0Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.<\/p>\n [squirrel-affiliate-playlist squirrel_playlist_id=\u201d610\u2033 \/]<\/p>\n Last year, showrunner Ryan Condal revealed the second season would be more like Game of Thrones<\/a> than the debut run.<\/p>\n\n
