Hollywood\u2019s newest heartthrob Nicholas Galitzine leads the cast of the romcom. <\/p>

Prime Video\u2019s upcoming rom-com The Idea of You now has an official release date, with the film set to land on the streamer later in 2024.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Based on the novel of the same name by Robinne Lee, The Idea of You tells the story of a single mother, Sophie, who ends up dating the lead singer of a boyband after taking her daughter to Coachella at the request of her husband.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since the release of Lee\u2019s novel back in 2017, fans have been speculating that the character of Campbell is based on Harry Styles and, <\/span>while the plot does seem like it could be inspired by Styles\u2019s relationship with Olivia Wilde, the book actually came out three years before they began their Don\u2019t Worry Darling<\/a> dalliance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lee did previously say that<\/span> a video she saw of the singer sparked the initial idea for the novel, but clarified that the book was never supposed to be about Harry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead, she told Vogue<\/a> that the novel is \u201csupposed to be a story about a woman approaching 40 and reclaiming her sexuality\u2026 at the point that society traditionally writes them off\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, who\u2019s set to star in the movie and when is it coming out? Read on for everything you need to know.<\/p>\n

The Idea of You release date<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The film is set to land on Prime Video on Thursday<\/strong> 2nd May 2024<\/strong>, it has been confirmed.<\/p>\n

Filming on the project began in October 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hollywood royalty Anne Hathaway<\/a> (The Devil Wears Prada, The Princess Diaries) will lead the cast of the film alongside Hollywood\u2019s newest heartthrob, Nicholas Galitzine<\/a>, who is currently <\/span>appearing in new Sky Drama Mary & George<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to Mary & George<\/a>, the actor appeared in romcom <\/span>Red, White & Royal Blue<\/span><\/a> as Prince Henry, a key member of the British royal family who embarks upon a romance with the son of America\u2019s first female president.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also recently appeared as jock Jeff in Ayo Edebiri\u2019s comedy <\/span>Bottoms,<\/span><\/a> while other\u00a0credits include 2019 Netflix supernatural horror Chambers, The Craft\u2019s 2020 sequel, 2021\u2019s Cinderella starring Camila Cabello and Netflix 2022 musical romance Purple Hearts.<\/span><\/p>\n

We also know that Ella Rubin (Masters of the Air) will play Sophie\u2019s teenage daughter, but the rest of the cast is yet to be announced and fans will have to stay tuned for further details.<\/p>\n

The Idea of You plot: Is the film faithful to the book?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

While fans will have to wait for the movie\u2019s release to notice any minor changes to the source material, it looks like the film will remain largely faithful to the original story in the book.<\/span><\/p>\n

The film\u2019s official synopsis reads: \u201cWh<\/span>en Sol\u00e8ne must step in to chaperone her teenage daughter\u2019s trip to the Coachella Music Festival after her ex bails at the last minute, she has a chance encounter with Hayes and there is an instant, undeniable spark.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It continues: \u201cAs they begin a whirlwind romance, it isn\u2019t long before Hayes\u2019 superstar status poses unavoidable challenges to their relationship, and Sol\u00e8ne soon discovers that life in the glare of his spotlight might be more than she bargained for.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the book description reads: \u201cThe last thing Sol\u00e8ne expects is to make a connection with one of the members of the world-famous August Moon\u2026 That he is all of twenty years old further complicates things.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
