As well as Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield, and Jeremy Irvine confirmed as Claire (Caitr\u00edona Balfe) and Jamie\u2019s (Sam Heughan) grandparents in the series, Tony Curran<\/a> will also join the drama as series regular Lord Lovat, Jamie Fraser\u2019s grandfather.<\/p>\n While Outlander<\/a> fans aren\u2019t exactly looking forward to the end of the original with its eighth and final season, there\u2019s plenty to look forward to in the new prequel series, which will explore the two parallel love stories which take place in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and in World War I England.<\/p>\n But has either of the Outlander series leads offered any words of wisdom going into the beloved franchise? Chatting exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a> on the release of Sky\u2019s Mary & George<\/a>, Curran joked:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve spoken to Sam [Heughan] a few times, looking for Scotland v England rugby tickets, I did actually.\u201d<\/p>\n He then continued: \u201cHe\u2019s just been nice, he\u2019s a sweetheart, he was like \u2018just have a good time\u2019 and telling me about the producers, the crew and what the experience might be like. Ultimately, he was like \u2018I think you should do it and I think you\u2019ll have a great time\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s supposed to be that you\u2019re contracted for a certain amount of years, but whether or not that happens. What I\u2019ve seen so far, the professionalism of the Scottish and British crews up there are incredible and what we\u2019ve shot, what I\u2019ve seen so far looks really nice.<\/p>\n \u201cThe scripts are really interesting so hopefully \u2026 it\u2019s going back in time again, 1914 and 1714 so hopefully that\u2019ll be another [wig], I bet I\u2019m wigged up again so another interesting experience.\u201d<\/p> Curran can currently be seen in Sky\u2019s talked-about new historical drama Mary & George as King James<\/a> VI of Scotland and I of England, a King who was seduced by George Villiers under the tutelage of his mother Mary.<\/p>\n Of course, Curran is also known for a variety of other roles in Mayflies, Doctor Who<\/a> and Your Honor, also recently being announced as part of the cast of Lockerbie.<\/p>\n But in Outlander: Blood of my Blood, Curran will star as Heughan\u2019s on-screen grandfather.
