The satire from writer\/director Cord Jefferson is up for five awards at this Sunday’s Oscars. <\/p>
Although the likes of Oppenheimer<\/a> and Poor Things<\/a> are widely expected to dominate at this Sunday\u2019s 96th Academy Awards<\/a> ceremony, another film that is competing on a few fronts and could yet pick up an award or two is Cord Jefferson\u2019s American Fiction.<\/p>\n Cord Jefferson\u2019s satire \u2013 which won the People\u2019s Choice Award when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last September \u2013 is nominated<\/a> in a total of five categories, including a nod in the impressive 10-strong Best Picture line-up<\/a>.<\/p>\n Its most likely chance of a win probably comes in Best Adapted Screenplay, a category in which it has already triumphed at a number of pre-cursor awards shows including last month\u2019s BAFTA Film Awards<\/a>, while stars Jeffrey Wright<\/a> and Sterling K Brown<\/a> will be hoping to spring an upset in the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor categories respectively.<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a> when the film was released in February, Wright explained how even getting nominated was a major success for the film given its budget is dwarfed by many of its competitors.<\/p>\n \u201cOur budget is probably equivalent to the catering budget on the last James Bond movie I did,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe shot our film in 26 days. But we think that we\u2019re telling a big story that is timely, and that is well drawn and reasonably smart. And one that audiences will find a place inside.\u201d<\/p>\n So where can you catch up with the film ahead of the Oscars?
