The Prime Minister was quizzed by reporters in Washington DC. <\/p>
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has encouraged Strictly Come Dancing professionals<\/a> to get vaccinated, following unconfirmed reports that three participants have refused the jab.<\/p>\n The beloved BBC One competition returned last weekend with a pre-recorded episode revealing this year\u2019s couples, while the first live show will take place this Saturday.<\/p>\n The Sun<\/a> reported last weekend that three professional dancers competing in this year\u2019s Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> have refused to get the COVID vaccine.<\/p>\n During his current trip to Washington DC, Johnson was asked by reporters to weigh in on the issue and his message was clear, describing getting the jab as a \u201cwonderful thing to do\u201d.<\/p> He said: \u201cI think that that\u2019s a matter for the producers but I strongly believe that people should get vaccinated. I don\u2019t want to bully people or to lecture them but, well, I don\u2019t mind lecturing them.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll lecture them: I think it is a great thing to do for yourself, your family, your community. I think people should get a jab and it is a wonderful thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n After the story first started gaining traction, a spokesperson for Strictly Come Dancing told\u00a0RadioTimes.com\u00a0<\/strong>that the show would not be commenting on these rumours.<\/p>\n They said: \u201cWe do not comment on speculation of somebody\u2019s COVID vaccination status. Strictly Come Dancing production has, and will, continue to follow strict government guidelines to ensure the safety of all on the show.\u201d<\/p>\n Former Strictly professional James Jordan has been more vocal on the matter, telling ITV\u2019s Good Morning Britain that dancers refusing the vaccine \u201cdon\u2019t deserve their place on the show\u201d.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cOn previous years of Strictly, you\u2019re working so hard and training so hard that everyone\u2019s immune system gets very low and lots of people get sick anyway.<\/p>\n \u201cSo if your immune system is low \u2013 and it\u2019s very close contact on Strictly \u2013 then you\u2019re much more at risk of spreading something like that.\u201d<\/p>\n Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday on BBC One.
