The Tourist actor is taking on a new challenge. <\/p>
Jamie Dornan has been announced as the lead actor in Netflix<\/a> crime drama The Undertow, where he\u2019ll be the latest major star to take on the challenge of playing identical twins.<\/p>\n The story kicks off when Adam\u2019s long-estranged brother Lee (both Dornan) abruptly returns, stirring up tension with the former\u2019s unhappy wife, Nicola (Mackenzie Davis), with whom the latter also has a \u201ctangled romantic past\u201d.<\/p>\n The synopsis reads: \u201cA split-second decision and a terrible accident drives Nicola to protect her children, and over the course of one week, Lee and Nicola are forced together, struggling to maintain a web of secrets and lies.<\/p>\n \u201cThough they can\u2019t ignore their feelings for each other, they both know they\u2019re living on borrowed time.\u201d<\/p> The series is an English-language remake of a Norwegian crime drama titled Twin, and appears to have stayed relatively loyal to the earlier show\u2019s premise.<\/p>\n In that series, Adam is accidentally killed in a chain of events involving his wife and brother, which result in his identical twin posing as him in an attempt to cover up the death.<\/p>\n Presumably, that is the \u201cterrible accident\u201d alluded to in the Netflix synopsis. The question is: can Lee really avoid detection from even their young children?<\/p>\n The Undertow cast also includes Iain De Caestecker \u2013 who recently played Arthur in ITVX\u2019s The Winter King<\/a> \u2013 as well as Vigil and The Marvels<\/a> star Gary Lewis.<\/p>\n Filming will commence later this year in the Scottish Highlands, with director Jeremy Lovering (Slow Horses<\/a>) signed on to shoot scripts from Sarah Dollard (Bridgerton<\/a>), Kam Odedra (Gangs of London<\/a>), Hanna Jameson and Scout Cripps.<\/p>\n The original Twin series ran for one season on Norway\u2019s NRK, with Game of Thrones alum Kristofer Hivju in the dual role set to be taken on by Dornan.<\/p>\n
