The latest reimagining of one man\u2019s unstoppable journey for revenge will be helmed by Rupert Sanders. <\/p>

Thirty years after the original The Crow became a major cult horror hit, a reboot will be soaring into cinemas this year.<\/p>\n

Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd<\/a> will be taking on the titular role in the film, which is being directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) and will also star Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter FKA Twigs (Honey Boy) as Skarsg\u00e5rd\u2019s character\u2019s fianc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

The film originally entered development all the way back in 2008, and has seen various big names including Bradley Cooper and Jason Momoa linked to the lead role of Eric Draven over the years, so fans will no doubt desperately be hoping it lives up to that long production process.<\/p>\n

And those fans were recently given their first glimpse at the new film thanks to the release of a trailer, which introduced the new version of Eric and hinted at lots<\/em> of violence to come in the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen someone dies, a crow carries their soul to the land of the dead, \u201d a voice-over is heard saying at one point. \u201cBut sometimes something so bad happens that the soul cannot rest. Until you put the wrong things right.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the 1994 original, a 1996 sequel, The Crow: City of Angels, ensued, as well as The Crow: Salvation in 2000 and The Crow: Wicked Prayer in 2005.<\/p>\n

Ed Pressman, who produced the films, has wanted to bring a reboot of the franchise to the screen for years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Crow has long held an important space in my life,\u201d he said in a statement. \u201cI believe Rupert\u2019s vision and the script he\u2019s developed with Zach [Baylin, co-writer] and our great partners is going to hit home for the Crow fan base and invigorate a new generation to O\u2019Barr\u2019s story of eternal love and redemption.<\/p>\n

\u201cRupert\u2019s vision is full of pathos, and I can\u2019t wait to see The Crow in action and on the screen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Producer Molly Hassell added: \u201cWhen Rupert approached us with his vision for the film, we saw immediately it is an exhilarating, modern story for audiences unlike anything we\u2019ve experienced yet in cinema. Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd and FKA Twigs are a perfect fit for that vision.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Crow is currently scheduled to be released on Friday 7th June 2024<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 so only a few months more to wait.<\/p>

There\u2019s plenty to get excited about when it comes to the star-studded cast of the reboot of The Crow.<\/p>\n

Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd will be starring in the movie as the titular character, while Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter FKA Twigs will play the role of Skarsg\u00e5rd\u2019s character\u2019s fianc\u00e9e, who\u00a0looks set to get more of a storyline in the new rendition than the character did in the original.<\/p>\n

While best known for her music career, FKA Twigs made an acting debut in the 2019 indie Honey Boy.<\/p>\n

Skarsg\u00e5rd, meanwhile, is best known for portraying Pennywise in 2017\u2019s It and its sequel. More recently, he played Kro in Marvel\u2019s Eternals cast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other stars set to play a part in the film include Isabella Wei (1899), Danny Huston (Yellowstone), Laura Birn (Foundation),\u00a0Sami Bouajila (Earth and Blood), and\u00a0Jordan Bolger (Peaky Blinders).<\/p>\n

The Crow plot<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Based on the comic written and drawn by James O\u2019Barr in the late 1980s, The Crow tells the story of Eric Draven, who is resurrected by a crow and given another chance to take on his and his girlfriend\u2019s murderer \u2013 and sets out on an unstoppable path for revenge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Crow is beautiful, dark, poetic and sometimes disturbing,\u201d director Sanders said in a statement. \u201cIt is a story of love, loss, grief and revenge. It is a great honour to revisit James O\u2019Barr\u2019s iconic comic and reimagine The Crow as a foreboding voice of today.\u201d<\/p>\n

The official synopsis for the new version reads: \u201cSoulmates Eric Draven (Skarsg\u00e5rd) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.\u201d<\/p>\n
