Lukas Gage spoke exclusively to RadioTimes.com about the new film \u2013\u00a0which sees Jake Gyllenhaal star in a role previously played by the late Patrick Swayze. <\/p>
A new version of the 1989 cult action film Road House<\/a> arrives on Prime Video<\/a> today, with Jake Gyllenhaal taking on the role played by Patrick Swayze in the original version.<\/p>\n Despite sharing a title and premise with that previous film, the new movie makes several substantial changes, but according to star Lukas Gage the filmmaking team were keen to include some nods to the original.<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a> at a special preview screening in London, You and Euphoria star Gage<\/a> said: \u201cI think that we weren\u2019t trying to copy too much of the original version. I think that that is so perfect and amazing as it is.<\/p>\n \u201cWe just wanted to, you know, do a couple of shout-outs, have some throwbacks [and] pay respect to that movie and to Patrick Swayze first and foremost, because he\u2019s a legend.\u201d<\/p> Speaking further about the late actor, he added: \u201cYou know, we wanted to do him proud. And, obviously, if he was still around today, we would want to make him happy if he saw this movie.\u201d<\/p>\n Gage added that they tried to keep the film \u201ccurrent\u201d and \u201cdifferent\u201d and pointed to the inclusion of musician Post Malone and MMA fighter Conor McGregor in the ensemble cast.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Meanwhile, Daniela Melchior \u2013 who plays Ellie, the love interest of Gyllenhaal\u2019s character \u2013 also pointed out how the film differed from the previous version, praising director Doug Liman for putting his own stamp on the material.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s Doug\u2019s take and he\u2019s very unique as a director, so of course the story is totally different just because of that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then the biggest difference I would say is the diverse cast, the different ages as well of the cast, and then the music. I think everything is different in this one \u2013 this is, like, its own thing, for real.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
