Greg Rutherford has opened up about the \u201chorrible\u201d injury which caused him to pull out of the Dancing on Ice<\/a> 2024 final on Sunday 10th March.<\/p>\n

The retired athlete was due to compete in the final with his professional dancing partner Vanessa James, however, was forced to pull out due to injuries he sustained during rehearsals.<\/p>\n

He has now revealed exactly what happened to him, admitting he \u201ceffectively gave [himself] a C-section\u201d when\u00a0he attempted to leap through the legs of pro ice-skaters Brendyn Hatfield and Colin Grafton.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday is surgery day. Loads of people have been asking, \u2018What happened?’\u201d he said while speaking in a video posted to his Instagram Story, \u201cI\u2019ve been a bit busy and obviously just recovering from the initial injury before I had the surgery that I hadn\u2019t got round to really talking about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cLong story short, I leapt through the legs of Brendyn and Colin and managed to tear all of my abs as well as herniate. So I effectively gave myself a C-section.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo yes, it was horribly painful. It needs to be operated on today and then I\u2019ll be properly on the mend. It was very painful, pretty horrible,\u2019\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, 10th March, it was revealed that Greg Rutherford<\/a> wouldn\u2019t be taking part in the 2024 finale alongside Adele Roberts<\/a>, Miles Nazaire<\/a> and Ryan Thomas<\/a>, the latter of whom was later announced as this year\u2019s winner<\/a>.<\/p>\n
