The Carnegie Deli Massacre is the subject of episode 1. <\/p>

Homicide: New York is a brand new docuseries from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, recounting law enforcement\u2019s \u201cgrisliest cases\u201d told in their own words.<\/p>\n

The five-part series will feature five different stories, from the 1997 stabbing murder of a man in Central Park to the 2001 Carnegie Deli Massacre, featuring interviews with the survivors, the NYPD, and families of the victims.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can read what happened [in these cases] on Wikipedia, but you don\u2019t get the human side of the story,\u201d executive producer Jane Lipsitz told Netflix\u2019s Tudum<\/a> of the series. \u201cYou don\u2019t have the context of the victims\u2019 families and friends. That obviously is a huge part of it, and really creates some emotional connection for the audience.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first episode of the series is focused on the Carnegie Deli Massacre, in which the police were called to an apartment building above Carnegie Deli where they found five victims shot, execution-style.<\/p>\n

The episode features NYPD Lieutenant Roger Parrino, death investigator Barbara Butcher and their colleagues, as they attempted to figure out who committed such an act and why.<\/p>\n

What was the Carnegie Deli Massacre?<\/strong><\/h2>\n
In May 2001, actress Jennifer Stahl was murdered in her apartment, as well as two other individuals. She lived above the popular Carnegie Deli, leading to the nickname of the crime.<\/p>\n
