After an unexpected encounter with a charming young boy called Ryan in the Beyond Paradise Christmas special, Humphrey and Martha turned their attention to fostering<\/a>, following their own IVF disappointment.<\/p>\n

And in season 2<\/a>, which kicked off tonight (Friday 22nd March), that begins to take shape.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe thinks everything\u2019s on track,\u201d says Martha during their date night as the couple discuss next steps, including interviews and a home visit.<\/p>\n

Although Humphrey acknowledges that he\u2019s \u201creally excited now it\u2019s happening\u201d, he does confess that he\u2019s apprehensive about the road ahead, which is to be expected, and something Martha also echoed.<\/p>\n

But while they \u201cseem like ideal candidates\u201d, according to the social worker, Humphrey is worried that he\u2019s scuppered their chances \u2013 and before they\u2019ve even begun.<\/p>\n
When his colleague Detective Sergeant Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi) asks him how he got on with his initial assessment in the teaser for next week\u2019s episode, the frustrated detective replies: \u201cTerribly!\u201d<\/p>\n
But despite his despondency, we have a feeling his interview won\u2019t be the disaster he believes it to be, because he has all of the attributes they\u2019re looking for (and also because there wouldn\u2019t be much of a show if they failed at the first hurdle).<\/p>\n
