Death in Paradise is returning for season 14<\/a>, with executive producer Tim Key teasing \u201chuge plans for the future\u201d when the announcement was made back in February 2023.<\/p>\n

Director of BBC drama Lindsay Salt added: \u201cWith its sparkling blend of mystery, humour and heart, Death in Paradise continues to delight the millions of us who make the return trip to Saint Marie with every sun-drenched episode.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a programme that goes from strength to strength, and I could not be happier that it will return.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Death in Paradise 14 release date speculation: When could it air?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Expect new episodes in early 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The show typically airs in January, although season 13 landed on screens in early February, so it remains to be seen exactly when season 14 will make its debut.<\/p>\n

And that, it seems, is that for Ralf Little\u2019s DI Neville Parker, who sailed off into the sunset with <\/a>Jos\u00e9phine Jobert\u2019s Detective Sergeant Florence Cassell.<\/span><\/p>\n

Little has played the lead detective role for longer than any other actor, so it was only a matter of time before he stepped aside, although he could return for a cameo. We certainly hope there\u2019s an update on what happens between him and Florence further down the line.<\/p>\n

But who will replace him? Speaking previously to RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Little spoke about the \u201cpossibility\u201d of the show being led by a female detective.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe show is extremely positive and brave in its choices,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd if they feel like that\u2019s the right next move, then that\u2019s what they\u2019ll do. The creative team at [series producers] Red Planet knows that show so well now that they\u2019ll always make a decision based on what\u2019s good for the show, and what\u2019s good for the fan base. I certainly wouldn\u2019t rule it out. Never say never.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201c\u2018Never say never\u2019 implies that it\u2019s unlikely. The honest answer is: I don\u2019t know. It\u2019s certainly a possibility. Whatever they decide, it\u2019ll be a good decision.\u201d<\/p>\n
