\u201cNot so much the cases, but the aesthetic of the show,\u201d she told RadioTimes.com<\/a>. \u201cHow it\u2019s been edited, and the music is very different and interesting.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile being faithful to the humour, the wit and the darkness that has already been set up in seasons 1 and 2, it\u2019s definitely going in a different direction. The audience is going to be really surprised by it.\u201d<\/p>\n Barney White, who plays Naomi\u2019s colleague and love interest DS Dan Winters, explained that \u201cit was a different director this time\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThe first two seasons were Dries Vos and this was Maarten Moerkerke,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd he loved the one-shot. That\u2019s quite cool, and it definitely looks different, feels different.\u201d<\/p>\n White went on to say that he found the one-shot scenes \u201cquite exhilarating\u201d to shoot because it \u201cfeels like a play, you can\u2019t mess up\u201d, while Naomi spoke about the \u201cchallenge\u201d of working within those parameters.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s one take in particular,\u201d she said. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t so much a challenge for us because we just had to stand still, but the camera men were going from outside, into a hotel, down a lift, into a lecture room and filming the entire lecture, and I think that\u2019s a 10-minute shot.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n White added: \u201cI remember being really nervous about it because I was worried I was going to mess up the scene. And then I watched it back and I\u2019m blurred in the background [laughs<\/em>].\u201d<\/p> White also teased more \u201cstrange, knotty\u201d cases this season, \u201cwhich give the show a different feel to a lot of other crime shows out there\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cAll of the crimes are compelling,\u201d he added. \u201cThe third episode is very cleverly written around Professor T\u2019s own trial [he\u2019s in prison after trying to defend Christina Brand at the end of season 2].<\/p>\n \u201cSo it\u2019s a courtroom drama on the one hand, and then him solving a crime in prison. That\u2019s quite a cool, nice balance of things.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd then the sixth episode is just a helter skelter, a lot of the culmination of personal storylines as well as the crime itself, which is quite intense.\u201d<\/p>\n Naomi also said that there\u2019s a \u201cvisceral connection to the victims this year that is very disturbing\u201d, adding: \u201cYou really see them. I\u2019m thinking of episode 2, in particular. There\u2019s a woman who dies in a pool and you see her floating there.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s definitely an emotional connection to the victims more than a search for the psychology of the criminal.
