The actor is bowing out of his spy role after this month’s No Time To Die. <\/p>
Daniel Craig has joked that he will be \u201cincredibly bitter\u201d when the next James Bond is announced, as he departs the iconic spy franchise after this month\u2019s long-delayed No Time To Die<\/a>.<\/p>\n The epic blockbuster from True Detective<\/a>\u2018s Cary Joji Fukunaga was delayed several times throughout the pandemic, but will finally crash into cinemas next week.<\/p>\n Plot details have been kept largely under wraps despite its long time on the shelf, but we do know that the film will see Bond go up against a sinister new villain played by Academy Award winner Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody<\/a>).<\/p>\n Appearing on BBC One\u2019s The Graham Norton Show, Craig was quizzed on his feelings about leaving the world-famous franchise, which he has fronted since 2006\u2019s Casino Royale.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been close to 16 years of my life, and it\u2019s been incredible to do these films,\u201d he said. \u201cBond films don\u2019t get made very often so to have this opportunity has been the biggest thing in my professional career obviously, but also one of the biggest things my life, so it is very emotional.\u201d<\/p> On the topic of passing the baton to another actor, Craig said: \u201cI am glad I am ending it on my terms \u2013 I am grateful to the producers for allowing me to do that \u2013 but I will miss it. I will probably be incredibly bitter when the new person takes over!\u201d<\/p>\n There\u2019s been no official word yet on who is in the running to be the next James Bond, but fans have come up with a wish list that includes Sam Heughan, Daniel Kaluuya, Henry Golding and Idris Elba.<\/p>\n Chatting to Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2, Craig said he would offer \u201csome rude words of advice\u201d to whoever ends up getting the coveted gig.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cI hope I\u2019ve left it in a good place and that\u2019s all I really wanted to do and that\u2019s what I\u2019d say, like, try and enjoy it but just give it everything \u2018cause they\u2019re worth it, they\u2019re just worth it. That\u2019s about it. Terrible advice isn\u2019t it!\u201d<\/p>\n Upon release of 2015\u2019s Bond film Spectre, Craig had said that he would \u201crather slash my wrists\u201d than reprise the role another time, but recently clarified to Radio Times\u00a0<\/strong>that he was \u201cjoking\u201d and regrets that the comment sounds \u201cungrateful\u201d.<\/p>\n No Time To Die lands in UK cinemas on Thursday 30th September.
