Race Across the World is finally on our screens again, as five teams explore the depths of eastern Asia in order to snag a chance at winning that \u00a320,000 prize money.<\/p>\n
The goal? To cover 15,000 kilometres of ground based on the kindness of strangers, as the teams aim to reach their travel checkpoints the fastest without the use of bank cards, the internet and smartphones.<\/p>\n
One dynamic duo are 20-year-old schoolfriends Alfie and Owen \u2014 a Hertfordshire-based football referee and trainee fighter pilot, respectively. But will they go to distance?<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s everything we know about the pair, who already have a cunning plan<\/a> to win the whole thing.<\/p>\n Relationship: <\/b>Friends<\/span><\/p>\n From: <\/b>Hertfordshire<\/span><\/p>\n Jobs<\/b>: Football referee, trainee pilot<\/span><\/p>\n According to Owen, the sport lovers are \u201cvery competitive\u201d and are looking forward to \u201croughing it\u201d as they navigate their way forward.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve always played sports throughout our whole lives, and we still do as well,\u201d Owen said. \u201cSo, I think we will carry that competitiveness over from that and bring it into this. We want to win.\u201d<\/p>\n And when it comes to the challenges ahead, Alfie is embracing them. \u201cI prefer working under pressure than without it,\u201d he said. \u201cI think in terms of that, I should be alright.\u201d<\/p>\n But one thing the pair might struggle with is telling the time. \u201cWe thought we\u2019d prepared for the trip until we realised yesterday neither of us have a watch, so we have no way of telling the time \u2013 I wasn\u2019t impressed when I found that out,\u201d Alfie admitted.<\/p>\n \u201cI have got a digital watch, but I can\u2019t figure out how to change the time on it. I thought everything was going to be fine, as I assumed Owen was going to bring an analogue \u2013 but then I realised he didn\u2019t have anything!\u201d<\/p>\n Best friends since school, the pair want to put their friendship to the test with their hardest challenge yet.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we wanted to take part in the series mainly because we\u2019re both lovers of travelling and have done a little bit of travelling before, but never done the whole backpacking, country-hopping situation,\u201d Alfie said.<\/p>\n Read More:<\/b><\/p>\n Owen added: \u201cWe wanted to do this because, as Alfie said, we wanted to go travelling and we\u2019ve never done this sort of thing together.
