Here’s everything you need to know about Race Across the World 2024 contestants Betty and James. <\/p>
There\u2019s nothing quite like Race Across the World<\/a>, so needless to say we can\u2019t wait for it to come back.<\/p>\n With a premiere date of today (Wednesday 10th April), the wait is almost over \u2014 and as per usual, five dynamic duos will be battling it out to reach their travel checkpoints first without access to smartphones, the internet or bank cards.<\/p>\n Previous seasons have seen competitors go all over the globe, but this time around the only thing standing between the contestants and that \u00a320,000 prize money is 15,000 kilometres and several countries in eastern Asia\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n There\u2019s no bigger test to a relationship than hitchhiking halfway across the world with each other, so let\u2019s look at some of the pairs in more detail \u2014 starting with sibling double act Betty and James.<\/span><\/p>\n Relationship: <\/b>Siblings<\/span><\/p>\n From: <\/b>Hertfordshire<\/span><\/p>\n Jobs<\/b>: Social media and events manager, sales consultant<\/span><\/p>\n Betty, 25, and James, 21, enjoy watching Race Across the World as a family. But James never anticipated that he and his sister would actually be taking part in it.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it was kind of my idea. I got the application thing going and James got dragged along for the journey,\u201d Betty admits.<\/p>\n \u201cYou said a few times, there\u2019s other people you should\u2019ve taken \u2013 but they\u2019re not here or couldn\u2019t do it,\u201d James added.<\/p>\n Read More:<\/b><\/p>\n Barely in touch as adults, Betty and James don\u2019t have a lot in common. But they\u2019re hoping the experience of Race Across the World brings them closer together as family.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a TV programme that we watch as a family, and I think during series one and two we were sat there like, \u2018We could definitely do this,’\u201d Betty said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt got to the last week we could apply, and we thought, \u2018Let\u2019s just go for it.\u2019 We did the audition video very [much] on a whim and filled out the form \u2013 and here we are.\u201d<\/p>\n While Betty is a more seasoned traveller than James, he is quietly confident about their chances of winning.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBetty doesn\u2019t like to admit it, she doesn\u2019t want to say it or come across too cocky or arrogant, but I think we\u2019ve got a good chance,\u201d he said. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cEveryone\u2019s got an equal chance at the beginning, don\u2019t they? But especially once we get going and settle into the first week and figure out how it\u2019s going to work, I think we could definitely put up a fight.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re both very competitive. We\u2019ve grown up in sports backgrounds, and that\u2019s all you do in sport, isn\u2019t it? Try and win. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI grew up playing quite a lot: football, cricket, tennis. Mostly cricket till a few years ago. I still play football, but it\u2019s very much a weekend ruiner if you lose on Saturday.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Will Betty and James go the distance?
