Race Across the World is hurtling back to our screens, and we couldn\u2019t be more excited about it.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday 10th April, we\u2019ll meet a new set of duos who fancy themselves as the country\u2019s biggest adventurers as they try to beg, borrow and (hopefully not) steal their way around several countries in eastern Asia.<\/p>\n
In total, the teams will be racing 15,000km to try and get to their destination without using smartphones, the internet and bank cards \u2014 but do Stephen and Viv have what it takes to scoop the prize?<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s everything you need to know about this pair, who bicker like an old married couple because, well, they are one.<\/p>\n
Read More:<\/b><\/p>\n Relationship:\u00a0<\/b>Married<\/p>\n From: <\/b>Rutland<\/p>\n Jobs<\/b>: Retired<\/span><\/p>\n Stephen, 61, and Viv, 65, are proving that age is just a number when it comes to undertaking a thrilling adventure, as the pair say they\u2019re \u201cgung ho\u201d enough to give anything a try. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI think we\u2019ll have a go at most things,\u201d Stephen said. \u201cWe\u2019re not really passive people, I don\u2019t think, we\u2019re quite \u2018get up and do something\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAnd we have an active lifestyle. I keep saying we\u2019re not fit people, but I think we\u2019re active people. We like sports, we play tennis, we go bowling every week. We have a ballroom dancing class every Thursday evening, and we have a group of friends that we dance with, and it\u2019s just become quite a big part of the week.\u201d \u201cIn addition, I do line dancing and I do a fit steps class, which is like ballroom on your own,\u201d Viv added. <\/span><\/p>\n So, will the pair dance their way to victory? Perhaps, but they think their ages work in their favour.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re sort of perhaps less imposing than some of the youngsters, less threatening than perhaps some of the youngsters might be by approaching strangers, we\u2019re not a threat to anybody,\u201d Stephen noted.<\/p>\n \u201cBut, certainly, it\u2019s literally the same thing as a weakness \u2013 we\u2019re not going to beat anyone in a footrace, that\u2019s for sure.\u201d<\/p> The pair are pretty committed fans of the programme, with Viv revealing that she\u2019s watched previous seasons \u201cthree or four times\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are competitive,\u201d she added, while Stephen affirmed, \u201cWe wouldn\u2019t be here if we didn\u2019t want to win it. But it doesn\u2019t matter either \u2013 we\u2019ve seen the show, the success, the failures and the taking part.<\/p>\n \u201cWe want to finish, to finish is important to us, we\u2019d just be embarrassed to go home early \u2013 the kids would never live it down, it would just be awful, they\u2019d just mock us mercilessly.<\/p>\n \u201cYes, of course we want to win, who wouldn\u2019t? We\u2019ll just do everything we can, within the rules, to make that happen.\u201d<\/p>\n Race Across the World kicks off on Wednesday 10th April at 9pm on BBC One<\/strong>.
