Alfie and Owen are among the five pairs taking on the ultimate race. <\/p>

After a lot of waiting and twiddling our thumbs hoping it\u2019ll speed up the process, Race Across the World<\/a> is back for another season \u2013 and this time they\u2019re going to all-new heights.<\/p>\n

Travelling from Japan to Indonesia, five duos will be taking on the ultimate race, and among those are best friends Owen and Alfie \u2013 and viewers will get to see them in action on Wednesday 10th April.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-olds have a determination to get to the finish line, but there was one blunder that could\u2019ve cost them the whole trip!<\/p>\n

In the early stages of the race, the friends realised they\u2019d lost their map \u2013 an item that is key for the pairs to travel due to them handing in their phones at the beginning of the race.<\/p>\n

In an interview with RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press, the pair discussed the impact of losing their map so early on, but they had some helpful tactics along the way.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt didn\u2019t hold us up much because it happened on day two,\u201d Owen explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it was just the mental aspect more than anything \u2013 like, it threw us off. Like, \u2018Oh my god. Day two [and] we\u2019ve already lost one of the only bits of kit that were given at the start line.’\u201d<\/p>\n

While this could cause a real problem for some pairs, Owen admitted after really getting a feel for the race, \u201cYou kind of improvise and adapt and overcome.\u201d<\/p>\n

Much like in seasons before, the pairs are only able to travel by means other than a plane \u2013 but with previous instalments to look back on, it begs the question of whether the pairs took any tips from previous winners or contestants to plan their way through the race.<\/p>\n

Ahead of them taking part in the competition, the friends were asked if they had picked up any tips from previous runs, and Alfie said: \u201cI think, from watching the previous series, it gives a bit of a sugar-coated view. I don\u2019t think I\u2019m quite ready for how difficult it\u2019s going to be and how gruelling it\u2019s going to be.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut certainly, the importance of budgeting money, trying to be on the move if possible, sleeping on the move will be important.\u201d<\/p>\n

Only time will tell if the boys manage to get to the finish line.<\/p>\n
