Mark Gatiss has lifted the lid on further ideas about a potential Sherlock film, admitting that he and those behind the detective series are still keen to take it to the silver screen.<\/p>\n
Gatiss co-created the series with Steven Moffat, and has previously shared his desire to create the much-loved drama into a movie, but all the relevant people need to be on board.<\/p>\n
In a new interview with Deadline<\/a>, Gatiss said: \u201cWe\u2019d like to make a film, but trying to get everyone together is very difficult\u2026 You\u2019ll have to ask Benedict [Cumberbatch] and Martin [Freeman].\u201d<\/p>\n The actor and writer previously admitted that turning Sherlock into a film was \u201cthe natural thing to do\u201d.<\/p>\n In a Q&A with readers of The Guardian<\/a> last year, Gatiss was asked why he and Moffat chose to bring Sherlock to TV<\/a> instead of a film.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople think you can just wave a wand,\u201d he responded. \u201cIt\u2019s incredibly difficult to get people interested and get films made. I remember talking to Edgar Wright about Ant-Man, into which he put eight years of his life and then didn\u2019t make.\u201d<\/p> \u201cEight years is not short of a decade. Add a few of those up, you\u2019re dead and you\u2019ve made four films,\u201d continued Gatiss. \u201cBut, also, we were genuinely interested in making them for TV because we love TV.\u201d<\/p>\n Yet he added: \u201cWe would love to make a Sherlock movie. It\u2019s the natural thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n Gatiss won big at the Olivier Awards last night after receiving the Best Actor prize for his role in The Motive and the Cue at the National Theatre.<\/p>\n
