{"id":49585,"date":"2024-04-15T16:03:28","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T14:03:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/?p=2025259"},"modified":"2024-04-15T18:22:35","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T16:22:35","slug":"sherlock-co-creator-mark-gatiss-wed-still-like-to-make-a-film","status":"publish","type":"rss_feed","link":"https:\/\/c01.purpledshub.com\/radiotimes\/rss_feed\/sherlock-co-creator-mark-gatiss-wed-still-like-to-make-a-film\/","title":{"rendered":"Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss: \u2018We\u2019d still like to make a film\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"rssexcerpt\"> &#8220;You&#8217;ll have to ask Benedict [Cumberbatch] and Martin [Freeman].&#8221; <\/p><p class=\"rssauthor\">By Katelyn Mensah\n                \t\t<\/p><p class=\"rssbyline\">Published: Monday, 15 April 2024 at 14:03 PM<\/p><hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/><?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\" standalone=\"yes\"?>\n<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC \"-\/\/W3C\/\/DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional\/\/EN\" \"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/TR\/REC-html40\/loose.dtd\">\n<html><body> <p>Mark Gatiss has lifted the lid on further ideas about a potential Sherlock film, admitting that he and those behind the detective series are still keen to take it to the silver screen.<\/p>\n<p>Gatiss co-created the series with Steven Moffat, and has previously shared his desire to create the much-loved drama into a movie, but all the relevant people need to be on board.<\/p>\n<p>In a new interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/04\/mark-gatiss-sherlock-film-benedict-cumberbatch-martin-freeman-1235885737\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deadline<\/a>, Gatiss said: \u201cWe\u2019d like to make a film, but trying to get everyone together is very difficult\u2026 You\u2019ll have to ask Benedict [Cumberbatch] and Martin [Freeman].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The actor and writer previously admitted that turning Sherlock into a film was \u201cthe natural thing to do\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In a Q&amp;A with readers of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/culture\/2023\/jul\/20\/mark-gatiss-id-be-the-first-naturist-doctor-that-would-scare-away-the-daleks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Guardian<\/a> last year, Gatiss was asked why he and Moffat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiotimes.com\/tv\/drama\/sherlock-movie-natural-thing-mark-gatiss-newsupdate\/\">chose to bring Sherlock to TV<\/a> instead of a film.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople think you can just wave a wand,\u201d he responded. \u201cIt\u2019s incredibly difficult to get people interested and get films made. I remember talking to Edgar Wright about Ant-Man, into which he put eight years of his life and then didn\u2019t make.\u201d<\/p> <div class=\"ad-placement\" data-count=\"865\" data-paragraphs-left=\"7\">\n<p>\u201cEight years is not short of a decade. Add a few of those up, you\u2019re dead and you\u2019ve made four films,\u201d continued Gatiss. \u201cBut, also, we were genuinely interested in making them for TV because we love TV.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet he added: \u201cWe would love to make a Sherlock movie.
