The London Marathon is one of the most prestigious events in world sport \u2013 and it returns this weekend.<\/p>\n
The capital will be awash with over 50,000 runners of all abilities and many more fans, families and friends strewn along the route this Sunday.<\/p>\n
Of course, it\u2019s not just the mass event on the schedule this weekend with elite wheelchair, women\u2019s and men\u2019s races to savour.<\/p>\n
Reigning men\u2019s champion Kelvin Kiptum tragically passed away aged 24 earlier this year following a car crash in his native Kenya.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old achieved a stunning time of 2:01:25 last year before setting the marathon world record of 2:00:35 in Chicago last October prior to his death. He will no doubt be remembered by all this Sunday.<\/p>\n
In the women\u2019s race, Tigst Assefa is expected to lead the pack in a bid to break the world marathon record for women\u2019s-only races.<\/p>\n
