Fans have a lot to look forward to when it comes to the new companion’s journey. <\/p>
Earlier this year, it was suggested that Millie Gibson was set to be replaced as the Fifteenth Doctor<\/a>\u2018s companion after just one season on Doctor Who<\/a> \u2013 but those reports have proven to be very much wide of the mark.<\/p>\n Rather than being replaced at the end of the hotly-anticipated upcoming run of the beloved sci-fi show, it\u2019s now been confirmed that the Ruby Sunday star will in fact be joined by a new character<\/a> played by Andor\u2019s Varada Sethu<\/a> \u2013 with the pair set to appear together alongside Ncuti Gatwa in season 15.<\/p>\n And it looks like fans have a lot to look forward to when it comes to Ruby\u2019s journey, with Gibson teasing a \u201cbeautiful story arc\u201d for her character across both the upcoming seasons.<\/p>\n \u201cRussell [T Davies]\u2019s given me the gift of a really beautiful story arc, not only in season 1 but in season 2 also,\u201d she told Entertainment Weekly<\/a> in a recent interview.<\/p> \u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cHer family definitely structures her beliefs and her positivity. I think because I\u2019m playing my age as well, it was so easy to express that sort of giddiness and young energy that Doctor Who\u2019s not seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n Showrunner Davies himself recently addressed the rumours that Gibson was poised to depart the show after season 14, telling SFX magazine<\/a> that she was not leaving \u201cat all\u201d.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cWe were ordered for two years of a series off Disney, and we\u2019re delivering two years, and the Ruby Sunday story literally spans those two years.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are planning [to] shoot the [season 2] finale in which Ruby has the most magnificent scenes, and Millie, it\u2019s some of your most challenging material yet, isn\u2019t it? It will all make sense once you see it play out.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n He continued that it was \u201cvery unfortunate\u201d that the unsubstantiated rumours had appeared in the newspapers, and reiterated that fans \u201cwill see the love that we have for Millie and the extraordinary stories that Ruby\u2019s about to go on over the next two years\u201d.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly<\/a>, Davies said that \u201cmy God, Ruby Sunday is important\u201d to season 15, and teased that her\u00a0role<\/a> would be tied into the\u00a0Timeless Child<\/a> storyline, previously revealed in the Thirteenth Doctor\u2019s era.<\/p>\n After debuting in last year\u2019s Christmas special, Ruby will shortly be seen when the 14th season kicks off next month.<\/p>\n The run will see her join the Fifteenth Doctor as they take on new villains in Jinkx Monsoon<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0Maestro and\u00a0Indira Varma\u2019s mysterious Duchess<\/a>, as well as meeting Jonathan Groff<\/a>\u2018s enigmatic new character in the Regency era and taking a trip to see the Beatles.<\/p>\n\n
