For almost a decade, the Commonwealth was free from the Enclave, save for a survivor here and there, but the Fallout 4 next-gen update<\/a> has changed this \u2013 and we have where they are.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll also take a moment to explain who this vestigial future government are and what goodies you can loot from them.<\/p>\n

Longtime fans will know, of course, but newcomers coming from the Fallout TV show<\/a> may be unaware \u2013 as they did not really have a presence until now.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a good idea to check out the Fallout timeline<\/a>, as it will give you an idea of how Fallout 4 fits into the story and what came before it.<\/p>\n

But with the Enclave returning, we best not keep you \u2013 as who knows what hapless wasteland denizens could befall their treachery as we speak!<\/p>\n

What is the Enclave in Fallout lore?<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Enclave, in Fallout lore, is the last enclave of what remained of the US government following the Great War of 2077<\/strong> that plunged the world into nuclear hellfire.<\/p>\n

They first appear as antagonists in Fallout 2, as they do not take kindly to those who have survived in America outside of their own installations and the vaults, as they believe them to be impure.<\/p>\n

They then show up once more in Fallout 3, with the same modus operandi for the East Coast.<\/p>\n

They wielded powerful technology that afforded them technological supremacy over other warring factions, but it wasn\u2019t enough for them to survive.<\/p>\n

Why wasn\u2019t the Enclave originally in Fallout 4?<\/b><\/h2>\n

At the end of Fallout 3 and its Broken Steel DLC, the Enclave were wiped out on the East Coast, with only a few survivors here and there who assimilated into society.<\/p>\n

Given how vilified they were in the wasteland, they were met with stiff resistance anywhere they were found<\/strong>, including in Fallout 2 \u2013 where they had a base of operations on the West Coast.<\/p>\n

However, that appears to have changed, albeit in a small way, as they are now rearing their heads once more after having not been seen for a decade.<\/p>\n

Yes, a small Enclave contingent can now be found in Fallout 4 as part of the Echoes of the Past quest introduced in the next-gen update<\/b>.<\/p>\n
