Call the Midwife has commenced filming on this year\u2019s Christmas special and season 14, with a photo from the set offering an early glimpse inside the Turner family home during the upcoming festivities.<\/p>\n

The show has become a champion of the annual Christmas schedules, with millions tuning in every year to see the latest developments for the beloved residents of Poplar and Nonnatus House.<\/p>\n

The drama\u2019s official Facebook page<\/a> shared the \u201ciconic clapperboard\u201d picture (above) that traditionally marks the start of production, featuring stars Laura Main (Shelagh), Stephen McGann (Patrick), April Rae Hoang (May) and Alice Brown (Angela).<\/p>\n

The actors are huddled together, with the two youngsters holding the clapperboard that has \u201cCall the Midwife 14<\/a>\u201d written across it, while a lit-up Christmas tree behind them confirms precisely what episode they\u2019re currently working on.<\/p>

A spokesperson for the show writes: \u201cWe begin our filming season in Christmas 1969, before we move on to the New Year, and our new series 14 episodes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis yuletide marks a poignant turning point \u2013 as it\u2019s the last time we\u2019ll be filming in the swinging sixties! Next stop: the supersonic seventies!\u201d<\/p>\n

Writer and executive producer Heidi Thomas added: \u201cAfter all these years, I still get butterflies every time I see the first clapperboard picture from the set.<\/p>\n

The previous run of Call the Midwife focused heavily on the fraught relationship between newlyweds Trixie (Helen George) and Matthew (Olly Rix), with the two poised for a fresh start in New York City<\/a>, where the latter hopes to rebuild his fortune.<\/p>\n

It has been reported that George is not leaving the show<\/a>, however, meaning Trixie will likely find herself back in London at some point in season 14. The show is confirmed to be staying on the air until at least 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n
