The show would hardly be the same without Gavin\u2019s protective mother, so it\u2019s a relief to know that she\u2019ll definitely be back for the upcoming festive special, which was finally announced last week<\/a> after years of speculation.<\/p>\n Steadman confirmed her involvement in an interview with The Sun<\/a>, saying: \u201cI know it\u2019s going to happen. A special would be great fun and it wouldn\u2019t be too draining and exhausting.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Christmas special cliffhanger ending was brilliant. I was really touched and moved by it.\u201d<\/p>\n Gavin & Stacey\u2019s last Christmas special, which aired in 2019, earned strong praise and amassed a huge audience, with more than 17 million tuning in<\/a> across its first seven days \u2013 making it the most-watched sitcom since Only Fools and Horses in 2002.<\/p>\n Suffice to say, the bar is set high for this special.
