The new season of Doctor Who<\/a> has launched, bringing with it a new sect of villains \u2013 the \u201cGods of Chaos\u201d.<\/p>\n Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies had previously teased that Ncuti Gatwa\u2019s Doctor would be going up against this fantastical \u201cpantheon\u201d<\/a> and has now let slip a new, intriguing detail.<\/p>\n In an interview on companion show Doctor Who Unleashed<\/a>, Davies revealed that the Toymaker<\/a> \u2013 last seen in episode The Giggle<\/a>, played by Neil Patrick Harris \u2013 is not<\/strong> the head of the pantheon.<\/p>\n \u201c[We\u2019re] keeping going with this fantastical strand of this pantheon of Gods \u2013 some of us call them the Gods of Chaos,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cIntroducing these gods, it starts to link them together and Maestro [played by Jinkx Monsoon] is actually the child of the Toymaker.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Toymaker seems to be the supreme being of this pantheon [but] he\u2019s not. There\u2019s plenty of discoveries to come with that.\u201d<\/p>\n Intriguing? So if the Toymaker\u2019s not in charge, who is?<\/p> There have of course been multiple references in recent Doctor Who episodes to \u201cone who waits<\/a>\u201d \u2013\u00a0this mysterious figure was first mentioned by The Toymaker when he challenged the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) to a game in The Giggle.<\/p>\n \u201cI came to this universe with such delight,\u201d he said. \u201cI played them all, Doctor \u2013 I toyed with supernovas, turned galaxies into spinning tops, I gambled with God and made him a jack-in-the-box.\u201d<\/p>\n But then, the Toymaker makes a confession: \u201cThere\u2019s only one player I didn\u2019t dare face \u2013 The One Who Waits. I saw it, hiding, and I ran.\u201d<\/p>\n In new episode The Devil\u2019s Chord<\/a>, after being defeated by the Doctor, the villainous Maestro<\/a> also warns: \u201cThe One Who Waits is almost here.\u201d<\/p>\n Futher back, in 60th anniversary episode The Star Beast<\/a>, \u00a0The Meep<\/a> (voiced by Miriam Margolyes) revealed itself to be in the employ of a figure it referred to as \u201cthe boss\u201d.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Are \u201cthe boss\u201d and \u201cThe One Who Waits\u201d one and the same \u2013 and are they the \u201csupreme being\u201d that\u2019s leading the Gods of Chaos?
