The Belfast-set cop drama has already been renewed for a third and fourth run. <\/p>
Hit BBC One cop drama Blue Lights<\/a> was renewed for a third and <\/em>fourth<\/a> outing before the second season<\/a> had even gone to air \u2013 and by the sound of things, fans will have lots to look forward to in those future runs.<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to RadioTimes.com<\/a> on the red carpet at the\u00a0BAFTA Television Awards<\/a> with P&O Cruises, star Si\u00e2n Brooke \u2013 who plays main character Grace Ellis on the show \u2013 revealed that while she wasn\u2019t allowed to reveal any specific plot points, she could safely say that season 3 would be a treat.<\/p>\n \u201cI know it\u2019s going to be very exciting,\u201d she said. \u201cI do know that \u2013 and it\u2019s going to be a corker!\u201d<\/p>\n Season 2 of the show is currently airing weekly on BBC One \u2013 with all episodes already available to stream on BBC iPlayer \u2013 and has continued to follow the PSNI team in Belfast made up of Grace,<\/a> Tommy (Nathan Braniff) and Annie (Katherine Devlin), who are each now a year into their jobs.<\/p> The series has once again fared well with audiences and critics, and asked what she thought was the secret to the show\u2019s success, Brooke pinpointed the quality of the writing from Declan Lawn, Adam Patterson and Fran Harris.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it\u2019s a show with heart, and I think it\u2019s really brilliantly written, and I think that it highlights a place and shines a light on a city that I think people are intrigued about,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n \u201cThey might not understand it as much, and I think through this there are people who go, \u2018Ah, OK,\u2019 and sort of understand that it\u2019s not black and white, it\u2019s sort of all the nuances.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd yeah, I think it\u2019s that, and I think it\u2019s very much just genuine human beings going to do their best.\u201d<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n At the time of the show\u2019s renewal in February, \u00a0Lawn and Patterson \u2013 who are also the show\u2019s creators \u2013 said they were \u201cthrilled\u201d that the BBC was \u201ccommitting to Blue Lights in this way\u201d.<\/p>\n They added: \u201cFrom the beginning, we wanted to write a show that had scale and ambition in its storytelling, and this decision gives us everything we need to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Lindsay Salt, BBC director of drama, said: \u201cWe were bowled over by the reaction to Blue Lights and I\u2019m really pleased to be confirming our commitment to bring two more series of our beloved Belfast drama to air.<\/p>\n \u201cAdam and Declan have brilliant ideas about where to take the characters next and I can\u2019t wait for viewers to see what\u2019s in store.\u201d<\/p>\n\n
