Freddie Fox is joining the series for the new season as Alicent Hightower’s brother. <\/p>
Freddie Fox, star of Slow Horses<\/a> and The Gentlemen<\/a>, is one of a number of actors joining House of the Dragon<\/a> for its second season, and he\u2019s given fans a hint as to what they can expect.<\/p>\n Fox spoke with RadioTimes.com<\/a> exclusively on the red carpet for the BAFTA TV Awards 2024, and was asked what viewers can expect to see in season 2.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of dragons!\u201d Fox answered. \u201cDeveloping, dark, machinating relationships, brilliant acting, an increase in the battles and fighting as war begins.\u201d<\/p>\n Fox will be playing Ser Gwayne Hightower in season 2, who is the son of Otto Hightower, Queen Alicent\u2019s brother \u2013 which also makes him the uncle of King Aegon, Queen Helaena, and Prince Aemond.<\/p>\n The new season will debut on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK from 17th June, with two different sides of the Targaryen family, the Greens and the Blacks, going to war in a battle for the throne.<\/p>\n It will be shorter than the show\u2019s first instalment, running for eight episodes rather than 10.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n Director Clare Kilner explained this reduction<\/a>, telling The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>: \u201cThere are eight wonderful episodes with so much happening in every episode, and we have trouble, at times, bringing them down to one hour.<\/p>\n \u201cRyan\u2019s [Condal, showrunner] decision was to give it a good opening and a good ending, and they\u2019re jam-packed with emotional and visually exciting events.\u201d<\/p> House of the Dragon is the first spin-off to come from Game of Thrones<\/a>, but it will not be the last \u2013 while a number are in various stages of development, including some animated shows, one live action series, The Hedge Knight<\/a>, has already announced its cast and been given a full season order.<\/p>\n It will star Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, and will be set a century before the events of the original show, following two unlikely heroes, Dunk and Egg, as they wander through Westeros, going on adventures.<\/p>\n\n
