The Thirteenth Doctor has revealed her upcoming exit from the BBC series hasn’t yet sunk in. <\/p>
Jodie Whittaker has said she\u2019s pleased she doesn\u2019t \u201chave to let go\u201d of Doctor Who<\/a> just yet thanks to there being scenes from the upcoming series still yet to be filmed.<\/p>\n The outgoing Doctor Who star, who has played the Thirteenth Doctor since 2018, announced earlier this year that she would be leaving the show alongside showrunner Chris Chibnall.<\/p>\n Speaking to Shaun Keaveny for The Line-Up podcast<\/a>, Whittaker said she hadn\u2019t had time to process leaving Doctor Who yet since filming was still underway.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, it\u2019s strange because, like, announcing you\u2019re the Doctor, it always happens at a very strange time. So you announce that you\u2019re going to play the Doctor and it happens before, essentially, you\u2019ve stepped foot on set.<\/p> \u201cSo that\u2019s one big announcement and the very emotionally, kind of contradicting thing is you announce you\u2019re leaving, but you haven\u2019t left.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I am still knee deep in shooting. So to me this hasn\u2019t finished,\u201d she added. \u201cYou\u2019re just in it, but I can be in it. So the good thing now is being announced that these are my last episodes that I\u2019m shooting doesn\u2019t mean I have to let go yet.\u201d<\/p>\n While we don\u2019t yet know who the new Doctor will be, the BBC announced last week that Russell T Davies would be returning as Doctor Who showrunner<\/a> for the sci-fi series\u2019 60th anniversary, having previously said that he would reinvent Doctor Who<\/a> if he had the chance.<\/p>\n \u201cThere should be a Doctor Who channel now. You look at those Disney announcements, of all those new Star Wars and Marvel shows, you think, we should be sitting here announcing The Nyssa Adventures or The Return of Donna Noble, and you should have the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors together in a 10-part series.
