New BBC One period drama Ridley Road<\/a>, based on Jo Bloom\u2019s novel<\/a> of the same name, is set in the Swinging Sixties.<\/p>\n

A soundtrack of songs from the period help form the backdrop to the series, which follows Agnes O\u2019Casey as lead character Vivien Epstein<\/a>, a young Jewish woman who goes undercover to infiltrate the National Socialist Movement (NSM), a real-life neo-Nazi group set up by Colin Jordan (Rory Kinnear in the Ridley Road cast<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Artists featured in the show\u2019s soundtrack range from the likes of Chubby Checker, with the track \u2018The Hucklebuck\u2019 from his album \u2018Twist With Chubby Checker\u2019, to multiple tracks from Helen Shapiro\u2019s album \u2018Don\u2019t Treat Me Like a Child, Vol. 1\u2032 (an appropriately titled choice, given Vivien\u2019s rebellion in episode one).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Helen Kane, Ronnie Carroll, Allen Crockett Glover, The Safaris, The Camps, Allen Crockett Glover\u00a0and more are also featured in the soundtrack.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
