When rugby player Ed Jackson suffered a catastrophic \u2013 and almost fatal \u2013 injury following a diving accident in 2017, he was told by doctors he would never walk again.<\/p>\n
But just a few years later, he set off to climb both the Himlung Himal in Nepal and The Aiguille Dibona in the French Alps \u2013 an inspirational physical and mental journey which has been documented in the new film The Mountain Within Me.<\/p>\n
The film is set to be released in UK cinemas in August, and today \u2013 in line with Mental Health Awareness Week and the recent Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day \u2013 RadioTimes.com<\/a> can exclusively launch the emotional trailer, which you can watch above.<\/p>\n At the start of the 2 minute clip we hear Ed saying: \u201cI would have loved to have shaken the old me and just said \u2013 \u2018Do you know how lucky you are to be alive?’\u201d<\/p> He then introduces himself and explains how, at the peak of his rugby career, he had an accident that meant he had to be resuscitated three times.<\/p>\n \u201cI was completely paralysed from the shoulders down,\u201d he explains as he appears visibly emotional. \u201cI was in a pretty dark place. Many times I thought \u2018I don\u2019t want to be here any more.’\u201d<\/p>\n However, he goes on to tell us that he had a change of perspective when he realised \u201cit wasn\u2019t about me\u201d before his wife Lois explains: \u201cHe was like: \u2018I\u2019m gonna walk again.’\u201d<\/p>\n Ed continues: \u201cI said to my physios that I wanted to climb a mountain. And they were like, \u2018excuse me, what?\u2019 I wanted to rewrite the rulebook of what is possible in life. We\u2019re too quick to be put into pigeonholes by society and by ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n
