Outlander\u2019s Richard Rankin has briefly stepped away from his time-travelling escapades to take on the role of John Rebus in a BBC reboot<\/a> of Ian Rankin\u2019s long-running crime series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The six-parter, written by Gregory Burke, reimagines the Scottish\u00a0detective<\/span> sergeant in his younger years, when his professional and personal lives collide in explosive, violent fashion.<\/span><\/p>\n
