England\u2019s Greatest Recording Stars: The Beatles &amp; Frank Ifield on Stage.<\/p>\n<p>Ifield\u2019s friend and music journalist Glenn A Baker announced the news of Ifield\u2019s passing on Facebook, writing: \u201cI just took a call from David Ifield, telling me that his brother Frank Ifield peacefully passed on this Saturday night, at age 86.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is so much to be said about this remarkable man, who had four number ones in Britain, three of them before The Beatles (who he had briefly support him in concert).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI Remember You became an indelible hit all around the world and a perfect signature song. It topped the UK charts for seven weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Very Sad to hear that Frank Ifield has passed away. Just Timeless and Relaxing.\ud83d\udcfb\ud83c\udfb6<br\/><br\/>Sleep Tight Frank, I Remember You.\ud83d\ude22 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vNf93PVc8l\">pic.twitter.com\/vNf93PVc8l<\/a><\/p>\u2014 Luke Davies \ud83d\udcfb\ud83c\udff4\udb40\udc67\udb40\udc62\udb40\udc77\udb40\udc6c\udb40\udc73\udb40\udc7f\ud83c\udf99 (@TheLiveLuke) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheLiveLuke\/status\/1792461032025366850?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 20, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"\/>\n<p>Ifield was born in England but grew up in Australia, becoming the number one recording artist in Australia and New Zealand by the age of 19, having released 44 records.<\/p>\n<p>He moved to London in 1959 and went on to perform in front of Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Variety Show in 1965.<\/p>\n<p>He contracted pneumonia in 1986 and required surgery to remove part of a lung, with resulting vocal cord damage meaning he couldn\u2019t sing or yodel for years.<\/p>\n<p>He is survived by wife Carole Wood and his two children from his relationship with ex-wife Gillian Bowden.<\/p>\n<p>Among those paying tribute to Ifield on Twitter, which has been rebranded as X, was presenter Luke Davies, who said: \u201c<span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3\">Very sad to hear that Frank Ifield has passed away. He was instrumental in the music scene during the 1960s. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3\">\u201cAlthough a bit before my time, I used to love playing this song on the radio.
