Hero Fiennes Tiffin is taking on a new role as Sherlock Holmes in a brand new Guy Ritchie series.<\/p>\n

Based on Andy Lane\u2019s Young Sherlock Holmes book series<\/a>, Prime Video<\/a> has ordered an eight-episode run of Young Sherlock, with Ritchie to direct and executive produce.<\/p>\n

Written and executive produced by Matthew Parkhill, the series will show an origin story of the well-known detective in \u201can explosive reimagining of this iconic character\u201d.<\/p>\n

As per the log line for the series, \u201cSherlock Holmes is disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed\u201d when he is caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University \u201cwhich threatens his freedom\u201d.<\/p>\n

It continues: \u201cDiving into his first ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Further casting is yet to be announced, with Tiffin the only actor confirmed to be starring so far.<\/p>\n

Ritchie and Tiffin previously worked together on The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare<\/a>, but many may recognise Tiffin from his role as Hardin Scott in the After film series.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Young Sherlock, we\u2019re going to see an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they\u2019ve never imagined before,\u201d said Ritchie.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to crack open this enigmatic character, find out what makes him tick, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love.\u201d<\/p>

Simon Kelton (Eddie the Eagle), Ivan Atkinson (The Gentlemen), Simon Maxwell (The Woman in the Wall), Dhana Gilbert (The Marvelous Mrs Maisel), Colin Wilson (The Mandalorian) and Marc Resteghini will also executive produce. Harriet Creelman will serve as co-executive producer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis exciting, new chapter about one of the world\u2019s best-known literary characters will delight our global customers with its captivating storytelling,\u201d said Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios.<\/p>\n
