Ruth Jones has expressed her frustrations at the plans for a Gavin & Stacey Christmas special being leaked before she and co-creator James Corden were ready to confirm its return.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, the pair announced that the much-loved series would be returning<\/a> this Christmas for its final ever episode, five years after its last festive outing.<\/p>\n

Corden posted the exciting news on his Instagram<\/a>, and shared a picture of him and Jones with a script for \u201cGavin & Stacey: The finale\u201d in front of them.<\/p>\n

He wrote: \u201cSome news\u2026 It\u2019s official!!! We have finished writing the last ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. See you on Christmas Day, BBC One. Love Ruth and James.\u201d<\/p>

It was first reported by Deadline<\/a> back in February that the show would make a return, but this was denied by Jones and other cast members \u2013 and Jones has since addressed this.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was unfortunate because James and I wanted to give everybody a nice surprise, and I think it was really mean that they leaked it,\u201d she said on Radio 4.<\/p>\n

The actress explained that she was put in an unfortunate position where she had to lie to her friends and family.<\/p>\n

She explained: \u201cThey were all saying, \u2018Is it happening?\u2019 And the reality is that until you have your cast booked, budget worked out, all of those things, you cannot say categorically that it is going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

While full details of the plot and cast are yet to be confirmed, some of those who have been part of the show have announced whether or not they\u2019re headed back to Barry.<\/p>\n

Alison Steadman, who plays Pamela Shipman, confirmed to The Sun<\/a> that she will be back as the over-the-top matriarch.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know it\u2019s going to happen,\u201d she told the publication. \u201cI just haven\u2019t seen the script \u2013 none of us have seen the script.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joanna Page, who plays titular character Stacey, has said she is \u201cso excited\u201d for the episode, and is relieved to finally be able to talk about it!<\/p>\n
