Actress Amanda Abbington<\/a> has spoken about her time on last year\u2019s season of Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> in a new interview, alleging that pro dancer Giovanni Pernice<\/a> was \u201cnasty\u201d.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Mail on Sunday<\/a>, the Sherlock star \u2013 who was partnered with Pernice before she left the competition early \u2013 also claimed that she notified the show\u2019s production team to Pernice\u2019s alleged behaviour \u201cearly on\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiovanni is nasty,\u201d she said. \u201cHe was awful to a few of us. I went to producers early on and told them about Giovanni.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cYou don\u2019t understand how awful this all is \u2026 Giovanni\u2019s fans have started trolling me now. I have had to come off social media and I\u2019m getting death threats.\u201d<\/p>\n

When approached for comment by RadioTimes.com<\/a> about Abbington\u2019s recent claims, the BBC declined to comment. RadioTimes.com<\/strong> has also approached Pernice\u2019s team for comment.<\/p>\n

Abbington\u2019s comments come after Pernice took to Instagram last month to insist he will \u201cclear his name<\/a>\u201d over any allegations of \u201cabusive or threatening behaviour\u201d towards his former dance partners.<\/p>\n

He wrote: \u201cTo my dear fans, you will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive. No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pernice has been a professional mainstay on Strictly since 2015 and won the coveted Glitterball Trophy in 2021 with actress Rose Ayling-Ellis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Amidst ongoing reports around Pernice\u2019s future on the hit dancing competition show and rumours of an internal probe into Pernice, the BBC issued a statement last week<\/a> urging people \u201cnot to indulge in speculation\u201d.<\/p>\n
