The Mindhunter and Glee star will make his hotly-anticipated Doctor Who debut in this weekend’s episode Rogue. <\/p>
Jonathan Groff will finally make his hotly-anticipated Doctor Who<\/a> debut in this weekend\u2019s episode Rogue<\/a> \u2013 with the Mindhunter and Glee star taking on the role of a mysterious bounty hunter in the Bridgerton-inspired adventure.<\/p>\n And ahead of his appearance, the actor has explained that although the show has evolved over the years when it comes to representation, he thinks that in some ways it has always reflected LGBTQ+ audiences.<\/p>\n Speaking to Doctor Who Magazine<\/a>, he said that even the very first episode of the show back in 1963 featured a moment that is \u201cinnately queer\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat really struck me is the scene where the two teachers are tracking down this young girl who you end up finding out is the granddaughter of the Doctor,\u201d he said of An Unearthly Child.<\/p> \u201cThey follow her into that sort of eclectic place, sort of like a junkyard with antiques everywhere, and the TARDIS is in there and they go inside and they can\u2019t comprehend how something so small on the outside is so big on the inside, and the Doctor says something like: \u2018It takes people a while to fully comprehend something that\u2019s so far outside of what they understand.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cI said to Russell [T Davies], there\u2019s something innately queer to me about that.
