England\u2019s Euro 2024 opener is fast approaching, and there is plenty of optimism about what Gareth Southgate\u2019s side can achieve in Germany.<\/p>\n
For the first time in modern memory, the Three Lions are the pre-tournament favourites, and there is a feeling that this could be the summer the country\u2019s long wait for success on the international stage finally comes to an end.<\/p>\n
The first step toward that goal will be getting out of Group C. That looks like a fairly straightforward task on paper, with England drawn alongside Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia.<\/p>\n
The top two sides from each group, plus the four best third-placed teams, will qualify for the knockout stages \u2013 but the Three Lions will want to finish top to quieten any doubters and ensure they avoid another big hitter in the round of 16.<\/p>\n
Scotland face hosts Germany on Friday night, but Southgate and his players will have to wait until Sunday to get their tournament going.<\/p>\n
