Scotland have their eye on history this summer, as Steve Clarke\u2019s Euro 2024 squad look to reach the knockout stages of a major tournament for the first time in the country\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
Neither Clarke nor captain Andrew Robertson have shied away from recognising the opportunity awaiting them in Germany, with both making it clear that the aim is to reach the round of 16 \u2013 and perhaps even beyond.<\/p>\n
Doing so will require the Scots to finish in the top two places in Group A or as one of the four best third-placed sides.<\/p>\n
Tournament hosts Germany are the favourites to win the group, but with Switzerland and Hungary the other two teams drawn alongside them, it\u2019s clear to see why the Tartan Army are feeling optimistic.<\/p>\n
Scotland showed during a storming qualification campaign that, on their day, they are a force to be reckoned with. If they can reach those levels over the next few weeks then they could certainly cause a few shocks and make history.<\/p>\n
They\u2019ll have a chance to make a statement right off the bat as they face the hosts in the tournament opener on Friday.<\/p>\n
