A prequel movie does not appear to be on the cards. <\/p>
Tom Hardy has finally addressed rumours of his return to the Mad Max universe \u2013 and for fans hoping for a positive outcome, that isn\u2019t the case.<\/p>\n
A long-standing rumour among the Mad Max fandom is that another prequel movie to Fury Road, centred around Hardy\u2019s character, Max Rockatansky, is on the cards. However, that now doesn\u2019t appear likely.<\/p>\n
In a new interview with Forbes<\/a>, Hardy simply told the publication: \u201cI don\u2019t think that\u2019s happening.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans were first introduced to Hardy\u2019s character back in 2015, when Fury Road first debuted, following Max in a post-apocalyptic wasteland as he joined forces with Furiosa (Charlize Theron) against a tyrannical leader (Hugh Keays-Byrne) and his army.<\/p>\n Read more:<\/strong><\/p>\n We then returned to the wasteland earlier this year with the release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, with takes place 15 years prior and tells the origin story of the titular character, played by Anya Taylor-Joy.<\/p>\n As for whether prospective prequel movie The Wasteland could come into fruition regardless of Hardy\u2019s involvement, director George Miller told Deadline<\/a>\u00a0he would have to \u201cwait and see\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have to see how well this one does,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Furiosa was met with almost unanimously rave reviews<\/a> from critics, with first reactions calling it \u201cferocious\u201d and \u201cstunning\u201d, and many praising Taylor-Joy\u2019s performance in the lead role following its premiere at Cannes Film Festival.<\/p> Check out more of our Film<\/a> coverage or visit our TV Guide<\/a> and Streaming Guide<\/a> to find out what\u2019s on.
