A new chapter of Doctor Who spin-off Tales of the TARDIS<\/a> has been released, which provides fans with a re-edited version of classic storyline Pyramids of Mars, from which an old foe just re-emerged.<\/p>\n

Fans were shocked to discover that the tech mogul Susan Triad (played by Susan Twist<\/a>) was in fact a herald of Sutekh<\/a>, a villain who hasn\u2019t been seen since their debut appearance in a 1975 story arc.<\/p>\n

Now, those episodes are getting another chance in the spotlight, serving as the perfect prologue to this week\u2019s season 14 finale, ominously titled Empire of Death<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The version of Pyramids of Mars shown in Tales of the TARDIS has an introduction and conclusion featuring current stars Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson as the Doctor and Ruby Sunday, respectively.<\/p>

These brand new interactions tease the incredibly high stakes of this weekend\u2019s episode.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll this time, I thought he was dead \u2013 but he was just waiting,\u201d says the Doctor, referencing Sutekh\u2019s alternate moniker of The One Who Waits, which was used to tease his arrival earlier in the latest run.<\/p>\n

Ruby replies: \u201cYou fought him. You defeated him. You\u2019ve got to know something we can use against him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Doctor grimly responds: \u201cThat Sutekh was the size of a man \u2013 he\u2019s now evolved into a titan. How do I fight that?\u201d<\/p>\n

But he then acknowledges that, if he doesn\u2019t step up, it will mean \u201cthe end of the universe\u201d.<\/p>\n

Now, with season 15<\/a> already in the can, we can probably assume that worst case scenario will be avoided, but it will be fascinating to see where this action-packed final chapter leaves our heroes.<\/p>\n

Of particular interest is Ruby herself, whose origins have been a key mystery<\/a> underpinning this season, with fans hoping we\u2019ll finally get a glimpse at the cloaked individual who left her outside a church that fateful Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n

Doctor Who season 14 concludes on BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday 22nd June 2024. <\/strong><\/p>\n
