It was big news for Strictly Come Dancing<\/a> fans recently when it was announced that Giovanni Pernice would be exiting the show<\/a> after nine years, and now fellow Strictly pro dancer Gorka M\u00e1rquez has responded to Pernice\u2019s exit.<\/p>\n

Appearing on Good Morning Britain today (Tuesday 25th June) along with Strictly professional dancer Karen Hauer, host Susanna Reid asked about the impact of Pernice\u2019s exit from the show.<\/p>\n

Reid asked: \u201cWhat is that like for the Strictly family when someone of that level leaves?\u201d<\/p>\n

M\u00e1rquez responded: \u201cIt\u2019s like when Alja\u017e [\u0160korjanec] leaves or Oti [Mabuse] leaves, or when Anton [Du Beke] decides to go to the judge role.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is a big part of the show. When someone decides to leave or change their careers, it\u2019s sad for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

On whether the pair still speak, M\u00e1rquez also said:\u00a0\u201cSometimes we speak, he\u2019s busy, I\u2019m busy. He\u2019s on tour at the minute with Anton.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, with Pernice having now left Strictly, that means that M\u00e1rquez is the longest-running dancer on the show. The news of Pernice\u2019s exit was confirmed earlier this month once the full line-up of Strictly professionals<\/a> had been unveiled.<\/p>\n

The news came after reports of an ongoing BBC investigation into allegations about Pernice\u2019s teaching methods<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pernice previously spoke out against about the accusations, deeming them to be \u201cuntrue\u201d and taking to his Instagram<\/a> to issue a statement, which read: \u201cTo my fans and followers. Every week, there are totally untrue stories about me in the media.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cAs you know, I have always rejected any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour. The latest accusations are simply false. I am cooperating fully with the ongoing BBC investigation, which will determine the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cAs requested, I have stayed silent, but I am looking forward to the conclusion of the investigation and ultimately clearing my name and establishing the truth.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so happy to be back on tour. Thank you all for your continued support \u2013 you[r] messages and love mean so very much to me. I will hopefully see many of you very soon and I look forward to clearing my name. With love, Giovanni.\u201d<\/p>

Pernice\u2019s latest response came after claims made by his most recent Strictly partner and Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Mail on Sunday<\/a>, Abbington alleged: \u201cHe was awful to a few of us. I went to producers early on and told them about Giovanni.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t understand how awful this all is\u2026 Giovanni\u2019s fans have started trolling me now. I have had to come off social media and I\u2019m getting death threats.\u201d<\/p>\n

The BBC\u00a0issued a statement last month<\/a>\u00a0urging people \u201cnot to indulge in speculation\u201d.<\/p>\n
